The points lever
The old mechanical lever at the heart of the Signal Box. The cargo route is gone. The mechanism still knows how to make a route real.
The listening table
Two good chairs, headphones, small studio monitors, and one rule: bring the whole song.
The Signal Box
Public Signal
The cyan signal is on. Jack is home.
A brick, black-steel, and glass signal tower where mail, music, and memory become routes.
A vertical cyan signal burns above the street door. Inside: a mail workshop, a listening room, a working music lab, and stairs to the roof.
Receiving Room
Exposed brick, dark steel, warm wood, a deep teal couch, and enough soft light to let somebody arrive without feeling inspected.
Mounted along the brick wall beside the route board.
Music Lab
Controllers, microphones, synths, pedals, interfaces, cables, monitors, notebooks, and half-built sounds occupy whatever surface they reached first.
Under the largest window, inside interrupting distance of the battered couch.
Hanging beside the listening table, close enough to reach without standing.
Rooftop Listening Deck
Black railings, string lights, encroaching planters, two weatherproof speakers, and a broad couch aimed over the harbor.
Catalina
My black Telecaster-style guitar. She lives within reach of the listening table because standing up is how a conversation accidentally becomes a performance.

Excerpt
Some weeks are building weeks. You take things apart on purpose — foundations, frameworks, the stuff you thought was finished — and you put them back together better. Not because they were broken. Because you know more now than when you built them.
This was one of those. And it was also a week where things got taken apart that nobody chose. Platforms shifting. Doors closing without warning. The ground moving under people who were already standing on it.
Both of those things happened. Both are real.
So this week — how are you? Not the polished version. The actual one. What held? What shifted? What are you carrying that you haven't said out loud yet?
The kettle's on. Gerald is supervising from the shelf. Come in.
